Overview:

The “Li Buyun Law Prize” was initiated by Shanghai Institute of Finance and Law, and aims to award individuals and organizations who have made eminent contributions to Chinese legal studies, Chinese and foreign legal studies, and legal education exchange. This award is appraised and awarded once a year, and there are one Chinese prize-winner and one non-Chinese prize-winner each time.

Mr. Buyun Li, born in 1933, is an Honorary Member of Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS), one of China’s outstanding jurists, and the co-founder of Shanghai Institute of Finance and Law.

Sifl Institute is an independent, nonprofit institution devoted to exploring effective solutions for a changing world. It is established by Mr. Liu Hongru, the first president of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and the famous jurists Mr. Li Buyun in the year of 2010. With the advantage of inter-disciplinary studies in law, economics and finance, Sifl experts promote a better understanding of the benefit of market-liberal solutions to some of the most pressing problems faced by China’s development.

Prize Committee:

The selection process of “Li Buyun Law Prize” is conducted by a prize committee which authorized by Sifl. This prize committee consists distinguished experts and scholars in China’s legal studies field. And the winner of the prize is decided by a two-thirds majority vote.
