Laureates of 2013 Li Buyun Law Prize:Guo Daohui

Professor Guo Daohui, jurist, one of the three forefathers of modern Chinese law, was born in 1928. He taught philosophy at Tsinghua University in the 50s and became the deputy director of the research center for the Legislative Affairs Work Committee of the National People's Congress in 1979. Professor Guo is now Consultant of China Legislation Research Association and China Comparative Law Association, Professor of Hunan University and Guangzhou University, Honored Professor of Southwest University of Politics and Law, Committee Member of Supreme Procuratorate Expert Committee and Council Member of East Asian Law Philosophy Association.

                                     

Professor Guo has devoted himself to legal researches for legislation and juresperudence. He has about 300 published acadamic articles, 20 of which have been translated and published on famous foreign journals. Meanwhile, he has published over 20 books, among which, Contemporary Law Series(Spirit of Contemporary Law, Calling of Contemporary Law, Chanllenge of Contemporary Law ) are his representative works and are praised as “enlightenment of Chinese modern law”.    

Professor Guo is an energetic advocate of human rights and has played an instrumental role in advancing the role of constitutional law in contemporary Chinese political thought.
